New Board of Petroleum Commission Inaugurated
The newly constituted Board of the Petroleum Commission was inaugurated today, with a call to address the mounting challenges within Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector.
Key issues highlighted included ongoing arbitrations, declining investments, dwindling oil and gas reserves, reduced production, and concerns over local content and participation in core exploration and production activities.
In line with the President’s vision, the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition is initiating amendments to existing laws and regulations aimed at revitalizing the sector by enhancing fiscal flexibility, predictability, and transparency.
The Board was urged to leverage its collective expertise to strengthen Ghana’s upstream industry and was assured of the Ministry’s full support as it undertakes this mandate.
The new Board comprises:
Mr. Ernest Thompson (Chairman), Ms. Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle, Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse, Mr. Crisler Akwei Ankrah, Hon. Mensah Joseph Kwasi, Dr. Hasiyatu Abubakari, and Mr. Hassan Thompson Osman.
