13 Central Gonja communities gets electrified
The Energy Minister has commissioned electricity expansion to 13 new communities in the Central Gonja District of the Savanna Region, advancing the government’s goal of universal electricity access.
“Ghana currently has about 90% electricity access, and we are determined to reach 100%. No community should be left in the dark,” he said.
He urged residents to pay their electricity bills, noting that while government expands access, keeping the power on is a shared responsibility. He also addressed concerns in Tamale, offering payment plans for those unable to pay, while warning against illegal connections that damage transformers and affect communities.
With NEDCo’s efforts, electricity collections have improved by 10% and losses have been reduced. The Minister pledged continued support to ensure further progress, emphasizing that together, Ghana is lighting up lives.
