Ghana Energy Minister Reaffirms Commitment to Clean Energy at ISA Assembly
At the 8th Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), Ghana highlighted its commitment to the global clean energy transition. The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Jinapor, presented the country’s statement, emphasizing key national initiatives to accelerate renewable energy adoption.
Hon. Jinapor expressed appreciation to the ISA for its continued support in advancing solar energy development across member countries and underscored Ghana’s alignment with global sustainability goals. Reflecting this commitment, President John Dramani Mahama recently renamed the Ministry of Energy to the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, signaling a strong national focus on renewable energy, climate action, and green growth.
To drive this vision, Ghana has developed a renewable energy investment pipeline worth approximately US$3.4 billion, supported by the Renewable Energy and Green Transition Investment Fund to attract concessional and private sector financing. This initiative forms part of Ghana’s broader target to achieve 10% renewable energy in its national generation mix by 2030, equivalent to 1,350 MW of clean energy capacity.
Looking ahead, Ghana will continue collaborating with the ISA and global partners to implement policy reforms and scalable solar solutions particularly in agriculture value chains and e-mobility to advance a sustainable and inclusive green future.
